T-NUT FASTNERS

A zipper type rule used on steel rule dies to produce pull-tabs on cartons.

THERMAL DIE
A magnesium die that had been chemically etched to produce a blade for cutting vinyl materials.
THERMAL DIE CUTTING
A type of diecutting to cut out pressure sensitive vinyl signs using heated magnesium cutting die.
TOLERANCE
The tolerance is an allowable deviation from a standard.
TONNAGE
Each die cutting press has a specific capacity or tonnage of pressure available on the down stroke of the head of the press. One ton equals 2000 pounds of downward pressure.
TRAIL EDGE
(1) Long, horizontal straight piece of rule which comes out of the cut last as the material goes through the press. (2) Last portion of blank to come in contact with die.
TRANSFORMATION HARDENING
A process well suited to lasers which involves hardening metal by heating it to the critical temperature for transformation, quenching it, and solidifying it with uniform distribution of its carbon content.
TRIM DIES
Trim dies are dies made to trim the excess flashing off of molded parts, for example, thermoformed and vacuumed formed parts, automobile dashboards, molded rubber parts etc. The dies can trim the flashing on either a flat surface or in a 3D multi-contoured surface.
TURNKEY
A complete system including all elements needed to accomplish a particular task.
TYPE GAUGE
In composition, a printer's tool calibrated in picas used for type measurement. TYPE HIGH: 0.918 inch; the standard in letterpress.
