KERF
Akin to "carve"; the groove or slit made by a saw, cutting torch or laser. The cut or slit made in a dieboard in a steel rule die is called the kerf cut.

KERFWIDTH
The width of the laser cut made in a dieboard by a laser or other cutting tool.

KISS CUT
In diecutting, to cut through only the top layer, or layers of pressure sensitive material and leave the backing stock uncut.

KNIFING
The function of cutting, notching, bending and inserting the rule into a steel rule dieboard.

KRAFT PAPER
A high strength paper made of sulfate fibber pulp. An alkaline process of pulp manufacture. Made on a Fourdrinier machine from virgin pine fibbers.
